Simendo
all-in-one

With the all-in-one team trainer you can certify camera and laparoscopic skills. Using the team training software you will be able to train together with your colleague, one holding the instruments while the other holds the camera.

The tasks are based on the scientifically validated novice and intermediate curricula of the laparoscopic software. The tasks vary with a 0-degree and 30-degree angled camera.

Team training

The tasks are based on the scientifically validated novice and intermediate curricula of the laparoscopic software. The tasks vary with a 0-degree and 30-degree angled camera.

For an indication of the team training software please view the Simendo laparoscopy videos.

Navigation curriculum

The navigation curriculum focuses on the fundamental skills of camera navigation by performing tasks with a 0 and 30-degree endoscope.

Tracking parameters are time, collisions, and camera aiming.

Novice curriculum

The novice curriculum focuses on the fundamental skills in a static environment and teaches the trainee to convert movements from a 3D environment to a 2D screen, getting used to the difficulty of the instruments having only 4 degrees of freedom, and working in a spherical coordinate system.

Tracking parameters are time, instrument path length, collisions, errors and camera aiming.

Intermediate curriculum

The intermediate curriculum focuses on bimanual instrument handling in a dynamic environment. The trainee will learn to work with two instruments together to perform a single task. Every exercise is based on a procedural movement that is frequently performed in laparoscopic surgery.

Tracking parameters are time, instrument path length, displacement of objects and errors.

Touch

Touch the spheres with a laparoscopic instrument to experience the difference between manipulating a camera and an instrument.

Which scope?

In this exercise you have to find out which camera you are working with by navigating the camera. Is it a 0 or 30° angled camera?

Stretch

Grab both ends of the yellow ribbon and pull it along the white line.

Stretch with misorientation

Same exercise as 'Stretch', except the camera position has changed. Experience the effects of misorientation.

Ring & needle

Grab the needle and manoeuvre it carefully through both rings. Do not touch the rings with the needle or instrument.

30° scope

Four spheres are hidden behind the wooden box. Use the 30° camera to find them. Grab all spheres and place them on top of the box.

Slide & drop

Drop the spheres in the holes hidden underneath the box-sliders. This exercise teaches you to work bimanually, keeping one instrument steady while working with the other instrument.

Clip a vessel

Accurately place four clips on the vessel at the indicated purple indicators. While applying a clip, both sides of the clip must be visible to make sure the vessel is sealed properly.

Surgical skills

Ring & needle

Carefully move the curved needle through the ring and pass it over to the other instrument. This exercise teaches to manipulate a curved needle by rotating your wrist, used for suturing.

Single knot

First, put the thread underneath the beam. Tie a single square knot around the green part of the beam. Pick up the green end of the thread with the green instrument and the blue end with the blue instrument. Loop around the blue (right-hand) instrument.
