An angled lens on a laparoscope provides many advantages, such as a much wider view resulting in less incisions for the patients. On the other hand, steering the laparoscopy is difficult and training is highly recommended to prevent collateral damage. Actually, without proper training, it is not safe to use the scope. It can lead to irritation in the operating room and increase risks for the patient.
With this curriculum, the assistant not only learns to operate the 30 degree laparoscope, but also gets to understand the principles.
